Environmental Engineering Award for VarioLoc

Eisenmann has received the prestigious 2019 Special Environmental Engineering Award of the German State of Baden-Württemberg. At the official ceremony in Fellbach near Stuttgart, the panel of judges, drawn from science and industry, praised the energy-efficiency and ecofriendliness of the VarioLoc car-body conveyor system.

Speaking to an audience of some 250 representatives from the worlds of business and politics, Franz Untersteller, Baden-Württemberg Minister of the Environment, commended the strengths of the new Eisenmann solution, which has already been installed at multiple car-manufacturing facilities, highlighting its: “leaner paint-shop technology, lower capital expenditure and energy costs, and reduced environmental impact.”

The system cuts cleaning costs by up to 40 percent, pares back capital expenditure by up to 38 percent, and trims maintenance expenses by up to 50 percent. The Environmental Engineering Award was launched in 2009 (when Eisenmann took second and third place) and is held every two years.

Accolades are granted to companies based in Baden-Württemberg in four categories. In the words of Minister Untersteller, it is “one of the most coveted industrial prizes in Germany.”

Eisenmann had submitted the VarioLoc skidless conveyor – which helps lay the foundations for the highly flexible Paint Shop 4.0 of the future – in the energy-efficiency category. The chair of the panel of six judges,

Prof. Thomas Hirth of the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), emphasized that VarioLoc has so many strengths, “it deserves recognition in multiple categories” – and as a result, received the highly valued Special Award.
