WellSpring Consumer Healthcare Acquires Iconic OTC Skin Care Brands from Bayer
A portfolio of well-known and dependable over-the-counter (OTC) skin care brands has been acquired from Bayer AG by WellSpring Consumer Healthcare, a developer and marketer of top personal care and over-the-counter products. The transaction’s financial details weren’t made public.
Avista Capital Partners, a well-known middle-market healthcare private equity firm with experience in constructing OTC platforms, is the owner of WellSpring Consumer Healthcare.
These include Cortate® and Complex 15®, two Canadian therapeutic skincare brands, A+D® and Solarcaine®, the top sunburn relief and diaper rash brands, respectively.
Pediatricians have supported and consumers have relied on the well-known brand A+D® for more than 80 years. Customers have trusted Solarcaine®, a medicated burn relief brand that is suggested by pharmacists, for many years.

Since Avista invested in WellSpring in August 2022, the purchase of A+D® and Solarcaine ® is WellSpring’s first add-on acquisition. WellSpring is right now assessing new possibilities to continue its strong growth trajectory.
