In the interview we held, Eskim Kimya Board Member Emre Tezgören answered our questions. Tezgören drew attention to the importance they give to R&D as Eskim Kimya and gave information about the new products they offer to the industry.
Could you briefly tell our readers about yourself, your educational background and your professional background?
After graduating from Üsküdar Science High School, I continued my education at Istanbul University Chemistry Department and Chemical Engineering. After my graduation, I attended post-gradute program program at the University of Manchester, and I researched and studied on “Polymer Materials Science and Technology”.
After completing this program and returning to Turkey, I started my career in the management of R&D activities at our own group companies, Eskim Kimya and Tezkom Kompozit.
Could you please give information about Eskim Kimya’s history and milestones? What is the current structure of Eskim Kimya today?
Our company, which started its commercial activities as the establishment of Eskim Collective Company by Mr. Yılmaz Tezgören in 1975, has been continuing to operate in the chemical industry under the title Eskim Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. since May 2004.
We serve with an R&D and innovation-oriented corporate culture, which is based on the knowledge and experience of our Founder Yılmaz Tezgören.
As Eskim Kimya, we aim to serve with the motto “Quality is our asset” and we aim to maximize customer satisfaction. We continue to increase the number of countries we export to, thanks to our production activities – which we have carried out from past to present and supported by advanced technology investments.
When we look at the point we have reached today, we maintain our position in the international arena with our products, 75% of which we export to Europe, Central Asia, Africa, China and America. With our unsaturated polyester resin production, we also serve the rapidly growing composite industry in the world.
To which industries and with what kind of products does Eskim Kimya mainly serve? Could you please give information about Eskim Kimya’s products, brands and services?
On the basis of industries and products; Eskim Kimya manufactures in the fields of auto repair paints, auto putty, auto primer, auto varnish, furniture paints and varnishes, antimicrobial varnishes and gelcoats and polyester resins. Eskim Kimya brands are; Eskim as for all our products, Polimax as the Auto Repair Paints Group, Sognare as antimicrobial varnish and for all our selected products.
Eskim Kimya produces furniture and industrial paints and varnishes, unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, alkyd resins, pigment pastes, thixotropic and acrylic polyesters, high performance gelcoats and auxiliary materials for various industrial groups. We also have approved products with Lloyd’s Register certificate in our unsaturated polyester resins group, which is included in our wide product range.
Could you please tell about your domestic and international sales activities? To which regions and what kind of products does Eskim Kimya mainly sell?
As Eskim Kimya; we export many of our products to many different regions and countries such as the Turkic Republics, all European countries, North-South Africa and the United States. We aim and care about increasing our potential abroad, especially through international fairs and international channels. I can express that our current sales volume as 75% abroad and 25% domestically.
Could you please give information about Eskim Kimya’s innovation and R&D studies? Do you have any projects that were developed in the context of university – industry cooperation?
Since 1975, under the leadership of our Founder Yılmaz Tezgören, we have been carrying out R&D and production-oriented studies, and we have been keeping customer satisfaction in the forefront by serving businesses in line with their needs. We attach importance to innovative and environmentally conscious projects.
As an example, recently we worked on separate projects with İzmir High Technology University and Eskişehir Technical University in the field of composites. Within the scope of these projects, analysis studies were carried out with universities.
In addition to these, last year, we worked on special gelcoat and varnish series that provide a superior antibacterial protection performance by bringing together the international brand value and expertise of Sanitized AG, where we present our experience as an expert gelcoat and varnish manufacturer.
Could you give information about Eskim Kimya environmental policy and sustainability approach? What kind of works and studies are performed in the area of worker health and safety?
The health and safety of our teammates and customers are our priority. In this context, awareness of our teammates and customers is raised through internal and external trainings.
For this reason, we work and produce on environmentally friendly, zero waste, heavy metalfree chemicals in our new product studies. We have been maintaining our environmentally friendly approach to our products for approximately 46 years and will continue to do so.
What are the priority criteria of Eskim Kimya when creating investment plans? Does Eskim Kimya have any investment plans in near and far future?
As Eskim Kimya, we continue to work on renewable energy, automation, efficiency and Industry 4.0. We base our investment plans on long research results and market trends. Our ongoing projects are included in our programs.
It is within our targets to reach the advanced levels of Europe and America, especially in our auto repair paints and resin productions.
A joint production project, in which we will be involved with a company in Italy and where we will share our knowledge and experience as Eskim brand, is among our development plans.
In addition, in 2021, we continue to work to increase our presence in the digital field. Our most important project in the digital field is the establishment of our e-commerce site.
