Kalekim Received Savings Award from ÇEVKO

With its “Saving in Wooden Packaging Materials” project, Kaleseramik was awarded at ÇEVKO “2018 Green Spot (Yeşil Nokta) Industry Awards”.

“We aim to leave a better world for future generations by developing environmentally friendly solutions at every step, from design to production” said Okan Gedik, General Manager of Kaleseramik.
The Green Spot Industry Awards, organized for the fourth time by ÇEVKO Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Assessment Foundation, were held in a ceremony in Istanbul.

Project named “Ambalaj Saving in Wooden Packaging Materials” developed by Kalekim’s Granite Factory Packaging and Maintenance with Investments and Project Division, was awarded in the category of Prevention Applications by Reducing Resources in Packaging Design.

Our Goal is to Spend Less Energy at Every Step

Environmentalists with new solutions in every step from design to production, indicating that less water and less energy expenditure targets, said Kaleseramik General Manager Okan Gedik, and continued as “As Kaleseramik, leading to the formation of the ceramics industry in Turkey, we recognize our responsibility with regard to energy and the environment.

With this awareness, we are now adopting a new business model and approaching all our activities with a holistic perspective. With the concept of sustainability we place at the center of this point of view, we aim to transfer the resources to the next generations, not reducing, on the contrary, by enchanting them.

55 Percent Less Tree Use, 18 Percent Increase in Carrying Capacity

On behalf of Kaleseramik, the award was received by Burak Çakır, Secondary Production Manager, and Resul Şen, Packaging Unit Manager. With the project developed under the roof of Kaleseramik, the design of wooden crate pallets was changed and 55 percent less wood was used.

When we consider that the average growing time of a pine tree is 15 years, with an average of 978 tons of oxygen per year thanks to this new design. In addition, an average of 18 percent more products are transported at a time, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions during this transfer.
