Turkish Paint Industry Continues Its Development
We can talk about a significant development in exports and the production quality in line with global conditions for our Turkish paint industry in general terms. When we look at Europe in general, we are in the position of the 5th largest paint manufacturer and we are taking firm steps towards becoming an international power.
As the Turkish paint industry, we dominate approximately 2% of the $164 billion global paint and coating market.
Our institutions, which are the representative of the Turkish paint industry, continue its investments at full speed to increase production on a quite wide geographical sphere, especially in the Middle East, Near East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
According to the data of İKMİB (Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association), our industry, which exports to 168 countries, achieved 871 million dollars of export revenue in 2020.
With a more than 27% increase in 2021, our total industry output has exceeded $1.1 billion. It could be said that 2022 has been a little more stable compared to previous
years.
We attach great importance to our international activities. In the past weeks, we attended the annual meeting of CEPE (The European Council of the Paint, Printing Ink, and Artist’s Colours Industry), where the European paint, meeting, which took place in Madrid between September 28-30, 2022, we attended the forums where developments, economic policies, issues in global trade dynamics and their management-oriented solutions in the global
paint industry were discussed.
We shared our knowledge and experience at the meeting, where concrete suggestions were shared. I would like to emphasize that the fact that we witnessed the Turkish paint industry breathing together with the world is quite promising for our industry.
We continue our activities to increase our share in the global market, to ensure our cooperation and to maintain the production quality of our paint industry.
In this respect, the annual meeting organized every year by the World Coatings Council, which represents the world paint industry, will be held for the first time in Istanbul, hosted by Bosad, in 2023, the 20th anniversary of Bosad and the 100th anniversary of our Republic.
I would like to underline that this important organization, which is on a global scale, will contribute to the industry and to international cooperation. We have started working and we will be sharing details very soon.
In our world, sustainability is becoming not only a business strategy, but also a way of life. In the light of the critical role our industry plays in sustainability, as an association, we have prepared the first Turkish Paint Industry Sustainability Report, which includes the results of the Turkish Paint Industry. Here, we are letting it be known that it will be published soon.
