Solutions for Poorly Soluble Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients*

According to the Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS), the bioavailability of active pharmaceutical ingredients with category II (low solubility-high permeability) and category IV (low solubility-low permeability) properties can be enhanced through various systems using different pharmaceutical excipients produced by IOI OleoChemical Pharma, including DYNASAN®, IMWITOR®, and SOFTIGEN® products. These systems include eutectic mixtures, self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS), self-microemulsifying drug delivery systems (SMEDDS), self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS), hot melt coating, hot melt extrusion, solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN), and supersaturated solutions. We wish to present these product series to you, which are manufactured to high quality standards in Germany, hold EU-GMP certification, and are approved by US-FDA, and share both literature information and application areas in the relevant table. DYNASAN® series are monoacid triglycerides with specific physicochemical properties that make them suitable for particular applications. As indicated in the table, by chemical or monograph names, these are trimyristin, tripalmitin, and glyceryl tristearate. IMWITOR® series are glycerides partially esterified with glycerin. They are functional lipids for drug delivery systems. Those with shorter chains in particular exhibit hydrophilic properties and serve as ideal solvents for poorly soluble drug actives. SOFTIGEN® 767, known by its monograph name as Macrogol 6 Glycerol Caprylocaprate, is a product designed for specific pharmaceutical formulations. It is ideal for self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS). It is a solvent for drugs, a wetting agent and re-oiling agent.
