New facility serves more than 600 stores in Mexico with 24-hour delivery
PPG COMEX® announced that PPG Comex has opened a new USD 8.8 million distribution center in Guadalajara, Mexico, enabling the company's stores in Mexico to receive orders within 24 hours.
The center serves more than 600 stores in Mexico's western states: Jalisco, Nayarit, Colima, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Sinaloa, Michoacán and San Luis Potosi.
The distribution center can store more than 15,000 unique paints and coatings products with a capacity of 10 million liters (2.8 million gallons). The facility spans nearly 2,000 square meters (21,500 square meters) and is the company's ninth distribution center in the country.
PPG Comex President Henrik Bergstrom said, "Guadalajara is Mexico's third-largest economic hub and a strategic location in PPG's supply chain," and added "The new center expands our ability to serve customers even in the most remote areas of the country's western region.
It also strengthens our position as one of Mexico's largest retailers, facilitating renovations for 160,000 homes daily."
PPG Comex directly employs 4,500 people in Mexico. Comex stores, of which there are more than 4,600 independently owned and operated locations in the country, employ an additional 18,000 people. The company operates five production facilities, nine distribution centers, four training centers and four research centers in Mexico and Central America.
The company is a leading organization in the production, marketing and distribution of decorative paints, water-proofing products, wood maintenance products, industrial coatings and miscellaneous products.
