EİB Achieved USD 13.083 Billion in Exports Over the Past Year

Aegean Exporters Associations' February exports increased 16 percent year-on-year to USD 1.172 billion. Turkey's exports in February rose 9.6 percent to USD 16.012 billion. The Aegean Exporters Associations recorded USD 2.234 billion in exports during January-February, up 4 percent, and reached USD 13.083 billion in exports over the last 12 months. Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association led the month's growth with a 65 percent increase, generating USD 27 million for Turkey in February. Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association ranked first in February with a 42 percent increase in exports to USD 155 million, followed by Aegean Ready-Made Garments and Apparel Exporters Association with USD 116 million. Aegean Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Association increased exports 11 percent to USD 90 million in February. Fresh fruit and vegetable exports rose 12 percent to USD 19 million, while processed fruit and vegetable exports increased 22 percent to USD 59 million. Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association achieved total exports of USD 79 million, up 19 percent. Aegean Mining Exporters Association recorded USD 68 million in exports, up 17 percent, while Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters Association achieved USD 63 million in exports, up 5 percent. Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association increased 64 percent to USD 53 million, and Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association generated USD 52 million in foreign currency for Turkey. Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association recorded USD 15 million in exports, up 4 percent, while Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association achieved USD 12 million in exports. Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi commented on the matter: "Eight of our 12 exporter associations increased their exports in February, two associations maintained last year's export levels, while two others fell short of last year's performance. Our members' industrial products exports reached USD 702 million, up 20 percent. Agricultural products exports increased 9 percent to USD 402 million. Our mining sector's exports reached USD 68 million, up 17 percent. In February, we exported to 164 countries. We managed to increase exports to 95 countries. Among the top 10 countries where we achieved the most exports are Germany with USD 142 million, the United States with USD 88 million, the United Kingdom with USD 75 million, Italy and Spain with USD 64 million each, France with USD 61 million, the Netherlands with USD 47 million, Belgium with USD 33 million, Israel with USD 30 million, and Poland with USD 27 million." Eskinazi stated that Aegean Exporters Associations' exports to European Union countries reached USD 563 million in February, up 16 percent, and emphasized that the Association's exports gained strong momentum compared to January, continuing: "We achieved exports of USD 131 million to Middle Eastern countries. Our exports to American countries increased 44 percent to USD 125 million, and to Asian and Oceanian countries rose 62 percent to USD 90 million. We sold USD 90 million worth of products to other European countries, up 19 percent, USD 69 million to African countries, USD 64 million to former Eastern Bloc countries, up 19 percent, USD 25 million to free zones, up 24 percent, and USD 14 million to Turkic Republics, up 14 percent."
