All-Time Highest July Exports

Turkey Exporters Assembly (TİM) has announced July export figures. Turkey closed July with a new record. According to the released data, Turkish exporters achieved USD 18.6 billion in exports in July, representing a 13.4% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. With this figure, the highest-ever July export figure has been reached. • In July, 17 sectors increased their exports compared to the same month of the previous year. The chemical sector led with USD 2.9 billion. • While 52 provinces increased their exports, the top 3 provinces with the highest export volumes were Istanbul, Kocaeli and Izmir respectively. Diyarbakır reached its highest monthly export in history. • The export family, which succeeded in waving the Turkish flag in 217 countries and regions, demonstrated the success of increasing exports to 147 countries. In 5 countries, including Bulgaria, Georgia and Lithuania, the highest export level to date has been reached. • In products such as gasoline, natural gas, diesel and hydrocarbon mixtures, exports increased by USD 745 million, while exports in the top 10 product groups with the highest increases rose by USD 1 billion. • 1,368 companies joined the export family by exporting for the first time this month. • Unit export value increased to USD 1.47, up 20% compared to the same period of the previous year. TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe made the following statements on the matter: "In July, we achieved the highest-ever July export performance, reaching USD 18.6 billion with a 13.4% increase. In the first 7 months, this figure exceeded USD 144 billion, and in the last 12 months it surpassed USD 248 billion. In 21 of the past 23 months, we have broken monthly export records. At this point, we see that exceeding our annual export target of USD 250 billion, we will leave behind a very important threshold in 2022. I congratulate our entire export family for their intensive efforts. The Turkish exporter is not only a regional but a global supplier. As the Turkey Exporters Assembly, it is a matter of pride for us to develop this vision of our exporters." The Turkey Exporters Assembly (TİM), the umbrella organization of 61 exporter unions, 27 sectors and more than 100,000 exporters, unveiled the foreign trade data for July through a press conference held at the Konya Chamber of Commerce, attended by Trade Minister Mehmet Muş. The export family, which demonstrated historic performance in exports in the first 6 months of the year and set monthly export records, maintained the momentum in July. According to the released data, July exports reached USD 18.6 billion, representing a 13.4% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. This brought the all-time highest July export figure to date. With July, monthly export records have been broken in 21 of the past 23 months. Turkish exporters achieved USD 144 billion in exports in the first 7 months of the year, and in the last 12 months exceeded USD 248 billion.

We achieved the highest-ever July exports

TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe, noting that they achieved the highest-ever July export performance reaching USD 18.6 billion with a 13.4% increase, continued as follows: "This performance was recorded during a period with the fewest working days in the year. In the first 7 months, this figure exceeded USD 144 billion, and in the last 12 months it surpassed USD 248 billion. In 21 of the past 23 months, we broke monthly export records. As we moved into the second half of the year, our export projections became even clearer. At this point, we see that exceeding our annual export target of USD 250 billion, we will leave behind a very important threshold in 2022. I congratulate our entire export family for their intensive efforts."

Chemical sector leads

TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe provided information regarding the export performance of sectors in July as follows: "A full 17 of our sectors increased their exports. Our top 5 sectors this month were respectively; Chemistry with USD 2.9 billion, Automotive with USD 2 billion, Ready-to-wear with USD 1.6 billion exports, Steel with USD 1.6 billion and Electrical-Electronics with USD 1 billion exports. Particularly the 54% increase in the chemical sector brought our sector to the top this month." Stating that exports in products such as gasoline, natural gas, diesel and hydrocarbon mixtures, which are subcategories of chemistry, increased by USD 745 million this month, TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe also noted that exports in the top 10 product groups with the highest increases rose to USD 1 billion.

Diyarbakır achieves highest monthly export in its history

TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe reported that the top 5 provinces with the highest exports were Istanbul, Kocaeli, Izmir, Bursa and Ankara respectively. Noting that Diyarbakır achieved its highest monthly export in history, TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe continued as follows: Apart from these cities, other provinces that attracted attention with export increases were Adana, Samsun, Şırnak and Konya. Our companies based in Konya increased their exports by 14% this month, reaching USD 240 million. Konya is a city that directly reflects the deep commercial history it draws from the past to its current export performance. It is our 12th province with the highest exports. With exports to 189 countries, more than 2,400 export products and 8 companies among the top 1,000 exporters, it stands out as a model city in Anatolia. We believe that Konya, which increased its exports by 40% last year to reach USD 3 billion in exports, will raise its exports to USD 3.5 billion by year-end as a result of increasing investments.

Exports to 147 countries increased

TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe, stating that the export family succeeded in waving the Turkish flag in 217 countries and regions this month, shared the following information: We demonstrated success in increasing exports to 147 countries. Our top 5 countries with the highest exports were Germany, USA, United Kingdom, Iraq and Italy. In addition to these countries, we have significant increases in our exports to Russia, Bulgaria and South Africa. Furthermore, we have reached record-high export levels to 5 countries, including Bulgaria, Georgia and Lithuania. In July, our exports by country groups were USD 10.2 billion to Europe, USD 3.1 billion to Near and Middle East countries, and USD 1.8 billion to Africa.

We support efforts to increase export reach

Stating that "As the Turkey Exporters Assembly, we operate with the understanding that 'no market you cannot reach is yours,' and we support efforts to increase our country's export reach," TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe said, "At the beginning of July, our Trade Minister Mehmet Muş shared with the public a comprehensive roadmap and new vision prepared by our Ministry at the Remote Countries Strategy Promotion Meeting. It is extremely important to raise the average reach of our current exports, which is 3,065 km, to the world average of 4,744 km. Our Assembly is ready to assume all duties and responsibilities falling upon it regarding the action items covered in the work. We are continuing our efforts rapidly to increase our exports in the distant geographies targeted by our President," he stated.

1,368 more companies joined the export family

Sharing the number of companies exporting for the first time in July, TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe reported that 1,368 companies exported for the first time this month and that new companies achieved USD 60 million in exports in July.

Unit export value increased to USD 1.47

Emphasizing that unit export value increased to USD 1.47 with a 20% increase, TİM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe made the following assessments: The dollar's strength against the euro continued in July. The Euro/Dollar parity was 1.20 in January-July of the previous year but dropped to 1.08 this year. It even fell below 1 within July. The negative impact on exports from the decline in Euro/dollar parity was USD 1.2 billion. The negative impact of parity on our export figures reached approximately USD 7 billion in 7 months. Had parity maintained its level from the previous year, our exports in the last 12 months would have exceeded USD 255 billion today. For this reason, the export figures we have reached today become even more meaningful despite all the negative effects of parity.
