Uras Holding to Invest in Powder Polymer Production Facility

Uras Holding, with technological infrastructure support from GEA Türkiye, a technology supplier to the Turkish chemical industry, is implementing a powder polymer production facility investment in Tekirdağ Ergene. The facility, to be built in Velimeşe Organized Industrial Zone, will operate in an area of approximately 17,000 m2. The facility will primarily produce powder polymers, which are used in the construction chemicals sector and represent one of Turkey's significant import items. For over 20 years, Uras Holding has been engaged in chemical sector production and textile dyes/chemicals production through companies within its portfolio. Working with leading textile producers worldwide, the Holding is among the few manufacturers that produces its own paints, raw materials and binders. Uras Holding is planning an investment of approximately EUR 15 million for the powder polymer facility whose project infrastructure will be implemented by GEA Türkiye. With this investment in powder polymer production, which is an important input particularly in the construction chemicals sector, a high-quality domestic production alternative to imported products will be offered. The goal is to reduce import dependency and shift to exports in the medium term. Due to the start of infrastructure works at the facility, a signing ceremony was held with the participation of Uras Holding Board Chairman Murat Özavşar and GEA Türkiye Liquid and Powder Technologies Department Head Burak Pabuçcuoğlu. Speaking at the ceremony, Uras Holding Board Chairman Murat Özavşar stated that they are proud to be establishing a facility that will produce domestically and in superior quality a material such as powder polymers, which is of critical importance particularly for the construction sector, with technological infrastructure support from GEA Türkiye. Özavşar noted that the powder polymer facility investment, which will make a significant contribution to Uras Holding's growth and is also targeted to become an important export item in the near future, will contribute to the economy through employment opportunities that will be created. GEA Türkiye Liquid and Powder Technologies Department Head Burak Pabuçcuoğlu stated that they are very pleased to have concluded a new spray dryer facility installation agreement with Uras Kimya. GEA Niro design spray dryer facilities are particularly preferred in the chemical industry due to their technological superiority. Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in June 2021 and be completed in June 2022.
