Certified Polyurethane Foam System for Life Rescue Boats from LANXESS: ISOFOAM RM 120W
Polyurethane systems are used in nearly every area of life, from textiles to electronics, from the defense industry to medical applications.
Polyurethane systems provide insulation, ease of forming and the ability to be used in various maritime applications with anti-fire properties. At the same time, thanks to the chemical properties of polyurethane resins, they are resistant to water, air, corrosion, oil, friction and other mechanical influences.
LANXESS's ISOFOAM rigid and FLEXOCEL flexible and integrated skin foam systems produce foams of varying density, hardness and surface properties that meet the widest spectrum of flexible, semi-flexible and rigid foam applications.
ISOFOAM products, also known as leaders in S-RIM (Structural reaction injection molding) formulation, have a well-deserved reputation for ease of production and very high quality. LANXESS offers a range of urethane systems that meet all specified requirements.
ISOFOAM RM 120W can be used in a wide range of applications. The product is suitable for use in lifeboats and rescue boats. It complies with IMO Resolution MSC.81 (70) Part 1 Standard and holds Lloyd Register certification.
Isofoam RM 120W is the resin component of a two-part, MDI all water-blown system for producing rigid foam by pour-in-place or molded techniques.
Designed for use on both high- and low-pressure dispensing equipment. With this feature, users of polyurethane dispensing machines are able to use this product without investing in a different type of machine. ISOFOAM RM 120W is highly resistant to water absorption due to its high closed-cell structure. The water and solvent resistance of the foam makes it almost impermeable to extreme temperatures, rain, snow, ice or frequent sprinkler irrigation and exhibits mechanical resistance. It functions without any deterioration in its structure across a wide temperature range. Rigid polyurethane foam materials provide lightweight and noise insulation to boats. In small boats, it is desirable to reduce noise from the engine system. Rigid polyurethane foam can absorb sound waves. It is widely used in marine applications due to its hydrolytic stability, strong resistance to the growth of algae and fungi, and flotation capability.
