The 2021 Nobel Prize in Medicine Winners Announced
The 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to American molecular biologists David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian.
The two scientists were recognized for their discovery of temperature and touch receptors.
[caption id="attachment_128954" align="aligncenter"] (Photo: BBC)[/caption]Nobel Committee Chairman Thomas Perlmann said in a statement in Stockholm that the discoveries by Julius and Patapoutian have helped us understand how heat, cold and mechanical force activate the nerve signals that enable us to perceive the world.
David Julius is a professor at the University of California, and Ardem Patapoutian is a professor at the Scripps Research Institute in California.
