Akdeniz Chemson Wins Localization Award Akdeniz Chemson has been recognized with the Best Localization Project Award in the chemical sector at the 10th Turkey Procurement and Supply Management Summit for its 'Lead Metal Localization Project' launched in 2016. Akdeniz Chemson, a company of the OYAK Group, has won first place in the chemical sector at the 10th Turkey Procurement and Supply Management Summit organized this year by the Turkish Association of Procurement Professionals and Managers (TÜSAYDER) with its 'Lead Metal Localization Project' which has been running for the past six years. The award is presented to companies that enable the localization of products that are either not manufactured in Turkey or imported at high costs, under the leadership of procurement managers. At the summit, the Akdeniz Chemson Raw Material Procurement Department team expressed their satisfaction at being recognized with such a meaningful award. Six years prior, Turkey did not produce lead of the quality required for stabilizer manufacturing, and domestic lead producers were also unaware of the existence of such a market. Under the project initiated by Akdeniz Chemson in 2016, samples were first sent to domestic producers, and they were incentivized to manufacture lead metal of acceptable quality. Providing R&D support to producers to help them manufacture the correct product, Akdeniz Chemson continues to develop strategic partnerships through long-term contracts. Akdeniz Chemson, which previously imported 100% of its pure lead from abroad until 2016, has now begun sourcing all of it from domestic producers of refined lead metal. Currently selling to 110 countries, Akdeniz Chemson aims to become the sole hub for the PVC sector by expanding its cross-product sales portfolio for the sectors it serves. The company, which has identified Europe, Russia, Turkic Republics, North Africa, the Middle East, the United States, China, Brazil, and Australia as its focus markets, operates production at six facilities functioning as an integrated structure on an intermediate product basis. At these facilities, the company continues to produce many of the intermediate raw materials for calcium, zinc, and lead-based stabilizers.
