Arkema to Produce Polyamide 12 in China by Mid-2020

Arkema has announced a 25% increase in global polyamide 12 polymer production capacity to support strong customer demand in Asia. The new capacity, produced commercially under the Rilsamid® brand, is expected to be added to Arkema's Changshu facility by mid-2020. According to the company, this investment plan continues to strengthen Arkema's expertise in the polyamide business across three major global regions: Europe, North America, and now Asia. The company stated that this investment, worth tens of millions of euros, will support strong growth in demand for applications such as cable protection, lightweight components in automobiles (as a metal replacement), high-performance development in sports footwear (running, football, etc.), and emerging applications in the consumer electronics segment. Mid-term growth rates in these applications are expected to exceed 7% annually in Asia.
