Busenaz Sürmeneli Becomes First Female Boxer to Win a Match in Olympic History

Turkish boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli, competing in the Olympics for the first time, defeated Karolina Koszewska 5-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals. Busenaz also became the first Turkish female boxer to win a match in Olympic history. The 23-year-old athlete, the first Turkish female boxer to compete in the Olympics, started the match very well. Winning full marks from all five judges in the first two rounds, Busenaz maintained her advantage in the final round and secured her place in the quarterfinals. Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu congratulated Busenaz following the competition he had been monitoring.
