President Erdoğan Announces New Restrictions
President Erdoğan stated regarding the curfew: "On weekends, it will continue uninterrupted from Friday at 21:00 to Monday morning at 5:00."
"Saturday-Sunday we are now at home"
President Erdoğan, regarding the curfew, said: "A general curfew will be implemented on weekdays between 21:00 in the evening and 5:00 in the morning. On weekends, it will continue uninterrupted from Friday at 21:00 to Monday morning at 5:00. Saturday-Sunday we are now at home."
Erdoğan noted that businesses such as supermarkets, grocery stores, butcher shops, greengrocers and places providing home delivery services will be exempt from the restrictions during designated hours.
Measures to take effect from Tuesday
President Erdoğan outlined other measures taken within the scope of the COVID-19 pandemic as follows:
"Kindergarten classes and similar educational institutions will cease operations. Funeral prayers will be conducted with a maximum of 30 people including relatives, and weddings may not exceed this number. The number of people allowed to enter crowded streets and squares may be limited by decision of the Public Health Council.
HES code application will be implemented for entry to shopping malls. Events where people gather such as house celebrations, religious commemorations, condolences and New Year celebrations will not be permitted in homes. Restaurants will not be able to provide service other than takeaway.
In workplaces with more than 50 employees, the implementation of pandemic measures will be strictly supervised under the oversight of the workplace physician by the existing occupational health and safety specialist or designated personnel. Except for the exceptions specified in previous circulars, those over 65 years of age and under 20 years of age will not be able to use public transport vehicles."
Erdoğan announced that the coronavirus measures will be regulated by a circular from the Ministry of Interior and will take effect from Tuesday.
