Dow Türkiye Wins Award with "The Chemistry of Teaching" Project

Dow Turkey and Teacher Academy Foundation (ÖRAV) jointly implemented "The Chemistry of Teaching" project has been recognized for an award by the Confederation of Turkish Employers' Associations (TİSK). The "Chemistry of Teaching" project, carried out by Dow Turkey in cooperation with ÖRAV, won the "Effectiveness" award under TİSK's 2018 Corporate Social Responsibility awards. At the award ceremony held with the participation of Minister of Labor and Social Security Jülide Sarıeroğlu, TİSK Board Chairman Kudret Önen also delivered the opening speech. Dow Turkey was among 10 companies recognized with awards for their social responsibility projects.   Given that innovation in science education is one of the fundamental factors enabling progress and that Turkey's level of science literacy falls short of desired standards, Dow Turkey, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and the Teacher Academy Foundation, launched the "Chemistry of Teaching" project in 2013. Dow Turkey and Central Asia President İhsan Necipoğlu stated that they developed the project to support the personal and professional development of teachers who play a leading role in raising young generations capable of preserving Turkey's cultural heritage, and expressed pride that their work has been recognized with an award by TİSK. Noting that they have reached 760 chemistry and science teachers in 16 different provinces of Turkey through "Chemistry of Teaching" trainings, Necipoğlu said, "Through our participating teachers, over a period of 4 academic years, we instilled a love of chemistry and science in more than 65,000 students. With the aim of increasing students' interest in science, between 2013-2017, we conducted workshop sessions in Istanbul, Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Kocaeli, Gaziantep, Trabzon, Adana, İzmir and Eskişehir, with participation from teachers in neighboring provinces."
