Industrial Natural Gas Demand on the Rise

Industrial Natural Gas Demand Growing Natural gas has been used in Turkey since 1970 across multiple sectors including power generation plants, transportation and services, and is also frequently preferred as an energy source in the industrial sector. Industrial natural gas, which has been used in industrial production for many years, can be used in LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) forms, unlike the natural gas used in residential applications. Şahin Çetin, Deputy General Manager of Fortes Mühendislik A.Ş., stating that natural gas has been used in Turkey for more than 50 years: "In Turkey, natural gas is consumed intensively in cycles, energy, transportation, industry, services and residential sectors. A significant portion of the natural gas used in Turkey is supplied from Russia and Iran via pipelines. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is supplied by sea from Qatar and Algeria. Demand for natural gas is increasing every year due to the financial and environmental advantages it provides. Demand for natural gas in the industrial sector in particular is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, and we at Fortes Mühendislik A.Ş. believe we are fully prepared to meet this anticipated strong demand with the experience, knowledge and discipline that years have brought us." he said. Upon examination of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) Natural Gas Market 2020 Sector Report, Şahin Çetin, Deputy General Manager of Fortes Mühendislik A.Ş., noting that natural gas consumption in the industrial sector accounts for 26.31%, continued his remarks as follows: "Natural gas consumption in the industrial sector reached 12,697.67 million Sm³.   National natural gas consumption is projected to be at 60 to 65 billion Sm³ in 2023. According to the International Energy Agency expectations, the highest annual demand growth in the 2010-2035 period is expected to be in the industrial sector at a rate of 1.9%. When evaluating current sector reports, it is expected that existing natural gas demand will continue to increase without slowing in industrial applications in the coming years." he said.
