GUHEM Shares Stage with NASA Europe's largest space and aviation-themed education center, Gökmen Space Aviation Education Center (GUHEM), is continuing its strong international promotion campaign. GUHEM General Manager Halit Mirahmetoğlu participated as a speaker at the "Space Awareness for Future Generations" symposium organized within the framework of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) meetings, held in cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), of which Turkey is a member, and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).

GUHEM takes place at APSCO symposium

GUHEM, Turkey's first interactive education center focused on space and aviation, appeared on the same stage as major institutions such as NASA from the United States, National Space Academy from the United Kingdom, and Beijing Space Camp from China at the APSCO symposium, one of the most prestigious international organizations in the space field. GUHEM General Manager Halit Mirahmetoğlu participated as a speaker in the first session of the symposium organized under the theme "History and Impact of Popular Culture in Space." Mirahmetoğlu provided information about GUHEM and shared details with participants about the center's vision and ongoing work. GUHEM General Manager Halit Mirahmetoğlu stated, "Our center contains 154 interactive installations designed for space and aviation education. The first floor of our center features an aviation exhibition. Science communicators trained in aviation conduct presentations on this floor. "On the second floor, which we call the 'Space Floor,' our science communicators who are experts in astronomy provide visitors with information about atmospheric phenomena, the solar system, planets and galaxies. GUHEM operates as Europe's largest and one of the world's top five centers in this field," he said.

GUHEM will inspire future generations in the space field

In his remarks, GUHEM General Manager Halit Mirahmetoğlu also mentioned Turkey's National Space Program and stated that they have established close relations with the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) within this framework. Noting that GUHEM serves particularly the space awareness and human resources development objectives included in the National Space Program, Mirahmetoğlu said, "GUHEM aims to inspire our children by transferring knowledge about space, aviation and technology to future generations. We particularly aim to increase our children's awareness of space at our center and encourage them to choose professions in this field in the future. We are confident that our country will achieve successful accomplishments in space activities in this way. We would also like to welcome you to our center and benefit from your knowledge and experience," he said. At the panel moderated by APSCO Director General of External Relations and Legal Affairs Aisha Jagirani, speakers included, besides Halit Mirahmetoğlu, APSCO Secretary General Ferhat Fikri Özeren, NASA Science Program Manager Adriana Ocampo Uria, National Space Academy Manager Prof. Dr. Anu Ojha Obe, and Beijing Space Camp General Manager Wang Wenhua.
