Foundation Laid for Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Factory
The groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Factory to be established by Kontrolmatik Teknoloji in Ankara.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that they are working to make Turkey a global hub capable of producing critical technologies. Varank emphasized that Kontrolmatik's investment in battery technologies and energy storage systems is an important initiative that will strengthen this vision.
"The value of this investment will become clearer when evaluated together with the electric vehicle and consumer electronics sectors. Batteries are one of the most fundamental components of electric vehicles. In fact, a large portion of the cost of these vehicles comes from the battery." he said.
TOGG cooperates with Farasis
Noting that TOGG is cooperating with Farasis for the battery and that Ford Otosan also has similar investments, Varank said: "Kontrolmatik Teknoloji's investment is also a timely step that stands out in meeting the growing storage needs in the sector with domestic and national capabilities. For this project, which will be completed in three phases, a total investment of USD 180 million is planned. In the first phase, 250 people will be employed, and this number will increase to 600 upon completion of all processes. In terms of production capacity, the target is to start with 250 megawatt-hours and increase it to 1,000 megawatt-hours." he added.Advertisement
