Women's Power in the Logistics Sector
Women's Strength in Logistics
The logistics sector has flourished with women's contribution. Ayşe Ekin, who leads a logistics company with a fleet of 350 vehicles and directs the work of 500 employees, is one of them.
Ayşe Ekin, a successful manager who has overcome the challenges and difficulties of the logistics sector and industry through her passion for her work, has once again proved that there is nothing a woman cannot achieve if she wishes. Ayşe Ekin, General Manager of Egelim Lojistik A.Ş., which has maintained long-term commercial relations with Lokman Koçaslan Otomotiv, spoke about the difficulties she has encountered as a female manager.
Ekin, a graduate of industrial engineering, said: "I have a position with significant responsibilities and of course I face certain challenges. These challenges are not due to being a woman. Because I do my job with passion, I overcome all the difficulties I encounter. The responsibilities placed on women in society can over time cause problems in women's working lives and lead them to choose between working or not working.
For women to balance their roles as spouses and mothers, spousal support in household chores and childcare obligations assigned to women is very important. When women's participation in working life is sustained, it creates a positive perspective on women in society. State and employer support is very important for the continuity of women's work and should be increased," she said.
Ekin, pointing out that the greatest burden falls on the employer in preventing the difficulties women face, especially in the work environment, said: "Employers and managers need to increase their support for women to participate more in every field of work. Women should be given the necessary training and opportunities to learn the job where they can develop themselves. For 8 March International Women's Day, the only message I can give is: I wish for a world where the value of women is continuously increasing and their right to life is not taken away from them," she said.
Noting that managing in a sector where men make up the vast majority of the working population naturally has its difficulties, Ekin said: "However, we have more than 50 female employees in our company. I do not think that we experience difficulties with my female colleagues, including myself, in our work environment. We have a work environment where respect is shown to women for the work they do.
Every brand has its own distinct advantages. In terms of design, durability, technology and fuel consumption, I believe MAN vehicles combine all of these to achieve optimum quality. Our investments will continue with MAN.
We were already working with Lokman Koçaslan Otomotiv's Balıkesir service, and the investments in Kemalpaşa, İzmir indicate that the MAN brand is beloved in the region. After-Sales Services are the invisible part of the iceberg in this business, and we believe we will overcome these processes with Lokman Koçaslan Otomotiv in the future as well as we have done so far," she said.
