Automotive Digital Sectoral Trade Mission Programme Taking Place
The Automotive Digital Sectoral Trade Mission Programme, organized by the Automotive Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (OİB) with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) to increase exports to target markets, will continue with the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom Automotive Digital Sectoral Trade Mission Programme, which will take place on 18-22 October with the participation of 21 companies from Turkey, will start with a webinar open to all companies on 18 October, hosted by OİB Board Chairman Baran Çelik. The event aims to increase trade and cooperation activities between the two countries through webinars and inter-company meetings.
In a statement, OİB Board Chairman Baran Çelik noted that they organize events targeting many different countries in the world to find alternative markets and further develop existing markets during a period when the entire world is facing challenges.
Reminding that European countries account for 80 per cent of Turkey's automotive exports, Çelik continued: "The United Kingdom automotive and supply industry also produces across a wide range from leading global passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturers to niche markets. Therefore, the United Kingdom is also one of our most important markets in Europe.
Although there was a period of uncertainty with the Brexit process, the Free Trade Agreement concluded on the last day of last year has enabled Turkish automotive sector exports to the United Kingdom to continue. In the January-September period this year, we achieved one of the highest export growth rates at 63 per cent to the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom ranks third among countries with USD 2.2 billion in exports in the first nine months. Our aim is to maintain this momentum of growth and take our exports even further with the contribution of the digital trade mission organization," he concluded.
