Sanko Enerji to Acquire Aytemiz Elektrik Üretim

Founded in 1963 and operating under the Aytemiz brand since 2009, Aytemiz Akaryakıt transferred a 50 percent stake to Doğan Holding in recent years. In April of this year, Tatneft, one of Russia's largest oil and natural gas companies, acquired Aytemiz Akaryakıt for USD 320 million. Aytemiz Akaryakıt operates 10 fuel supply points across different regions of Turkey, and storage and loading terminals with a capacity of 250,000 cubic meters in Mersin, İzmit, Kırıkkale, Trabzon and Alanya. Operating under the Aytemiz brand with 590 fuel stations in 77 provinces, the company ranked 50th in 2022 according to Fortune 500, which identifies Turkey's largest 500 companies. Following the fuel business, the Aytemiz family is now preparing to divest in another area of energy. This time, the division on the block is power generation. Sanko Enerji, part of Sanko Holding, one of Turkey's largest business groups, is preparing to acquire the shares of Aytemiz Elektrik Üretim AŞ and take full control of the company. Following approvals from relevant government authorities, Sanko Enerji will further strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector. Sanko's portfolio in renewable energy Sanko Enerji Grubu is among Turkey's largest players in this sector. The company develops power generation plant projects sourcing entirely from renewable energy, and also handles operation, sales and trading. Sanko has the potential to generate 3.4 billion kWh of energy annually and operates a portfolio comprising 15 power plants in total: 6 hydroelectric, 6 wind, 3 geothermal and 2 solar facilities. These plants have an installed capacity of approximately 1,000 MW. Having made a significant sale from the fuel business this year, Aytemiz is now preparing to divest its most important renewable energy unit.
