Gaziantep Companies Dominate TİM's Top 1000 Exporters List

Gaziantep's Mark on Turkey's Top 1000 Exporters List Gaziantep achieved the success of placing 71 firms on Turkey's list of top 1000 exporters compared to 2021. Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO) Board Chairman Adnan Ünverdi congratulated Gaziantep-based firms that succeeded in entering Turkey's largest 1000 exporters and wished for the continuation of their success. Saying "Whatever the conditions, we will continue to work for more and increase our exports," Adnan Ünverdi conveyed that according to the "Turkey's Top 1000 Exporters 2021" research prepared by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Gaziantep ranked 3rd with 71 firms after Istanbul and Izmir. Adnan Ünverdi stated that during a period when supply chains in international trade have been disrupted and input costs have reached peak levels, firms operating in Gaziantep have conducted an extraordinary struggle to push the city's exports upward, and that Gaziantep's export-to-import coverage ratio is 140 percent, making it a city with a current account surplus. Ünverdi noted that within Turkey's export-led growth policy framework, the manufacturing and exporting sector should receive more support in the face of increasingly difficult conditions. Expressing that this would both increase value-added on a product basis and bring in more foreign exchange, Ünverdi stated: "Increases in input costs are reflected in product prices and export figures. Facing this picture, we must increase our exports on a product basis. For this, we need incentives, support and facilitating measures that will strengthen the competitiveness of our exporters." Stating that as Gaziantep Chamber of Industry they are implementing projects for sustainable industry and sustainable exports, Ünverdi said they are preparing firms for the future in areas including green transition, digital transformation, efficient production, energy efficiency and human resources efficiency.

Over 10 billion dollars in exports

Recalling that Gaziantep exported over 10 billion dollars to 181 countries last year, Ünverdi said: "With its strong industry, Gaziantep is the fortress of the region. The share of manufacturing industry in our exports is 90 percent. Despite the marks left by the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war and all adversities, we will God willing reach our 12 billion dollar target this year by expanding our export markets and increasing our strength in existing markets. We will also raise the number of our firms on the TİM 1000 list even higher with our product range and innovative perspective. I extend my sincere thanks to all our industrialists, exporters, employees and everyone working hard who are on Turkey's Top 1000 Exporters 2021 list and creating value-added for our country."
