Türk Telekom and ASPİLSAN Enerji Sign Cooperation Agreement

Türk Telekom has entered into a significant partnership with ASPİLSAN Enerji to develop and commercially deploy domestic lithium batteries, reflecting its vision of producing local and national technology solutions. The lithium battery developed by ASPİLSAN Enerji with support from Türk Telekom engineers was tested for the first time in Türk Telekom's live network and has now entered commercial use. Türk Telekom, Turkey's leading information and communications technology company, continues to support projects aimed at increasing the share of domestic and national production in communications technologies. According to company statements, Türk Telekom has partnered with ASPİLSAN Enerji, which is preparing to launch Turkey's first and only, and Europe's first cylindrical lithium-ion battery production facility in terms of battery design and manufacturing. The lithium battery developed by ASPİLSAN Enerji with the support of Türk Telekom engineers was tested for the first time in Türk Telekom's live network and has been deployed for commercial use.

"We support domestic production"

Yusuf Kıraç, Deputy General Manager of Technology at Türk Telekom, stated: "As Türk Telekom, we continue to support domestic production by being firsts in high-technology products. We have partnered with ASPİLSAN Enerji in developing lithium batteries for the telecommunications sector. We have begun testing lithium batteries developed by ASPİLSAN Enerji with Türk Telekom's support by installing them in our facilities. We take justified pride in completing the project's design, development and field tests together with ASPİLSAN Enerji and moving to the commercial deployment phase. Previously, we imported batteries similar to ASPİLSAN products, which are the first domestic lithium batteries commercially deployed in Türk Telekom's live network. We believe that these products, developed and manufactured directly for the telecommunications sector, will make a significant contribution to the national economy." Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, commented on the partnership: "As ASPİLSAN Enerji, an organization of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, we conduct all our activities to be pioneers in the technologies of the future in meeting our country's and the defence industry's energy needs. The battery sector covers a wide range spanning from communications technologies to robotic systems and electric vehicles. As a result of our partnership with Türk Telekom, we have produced Turkey's first domestic battery developed directly for the telecommunications sector. We take pride in reducing imports and cutting our dependency on foreign sources with batteries specially developed for communications technologies. As ASPİLSAN Enerji, we view this partnership with Türk Telekom as the first step toward many more successful collaborations. This partnership, which will make an important contribution to the national economy, will grow further with new batteries to be developed for use in different fields and different types."

First domestic lithium battery specially designed for the telecommunications sector

ASPİLSAN Enerji, which is preparing to establish Turkey's first and Europe's largest lithium-ion battery production hub in Kayseri, has developed next-generation lithium batteries specifically for the telecommunications sector featuring longer lifespan, higher performance and lighter weight. The first installation of test and commercial versions of this remotely managed next-generation battery was successfully completed in the live network of Türk Telekom, Turkey's leading operator.
