TürkSMD 13th Architecture Awards Ceremony

The TürkSMD 13th Architecture Awards Ceremony was held on 16 February 2019 at the TSMD Architecture Centre. The ceremony attracted significant interest from stakeholders in the architecture and construction sector. The TürkSMD Architecture Awards, held every two years, are presented in five categories: Grand Prize, Building Award, Contribution to Architecture Award, Press and Media Award and Jury Special Award. The Turkish Association of Independent Architects honours architects, institutions and structures that have contributed to the architectural environment and culture. The awards were presented to their recipients at the ceremony held under the sponsorship of PETRA The Flooring Co., Aytaş Alçı and Matrisled. The 2017-2018 term jury members for the TürkSMD Architecture Awards consisted of Prof. Dr. Suha Özkan (jury chair), Nesrin Yatman, Neşe İtez, Enis Öncüoğlu, Hüseyin Egeli, Cem Sorguç, Önder Kaya and Gökhan Aksoy.This year's Grand Prize was awarded to Güngör Kaftancı. The Building Awards were presented to Boğaziçi University Gözlükule Excavation Research Centre for the Tarsus project to Saadet Sayın, T.C. Mission Buildings, Strasbourg project to Han Tümertekin and Hamamyolu Park and Square Arrangement, Odunpazarı project to Kerem Yazgan and Begüm Yazgan. İrfan Balıoğlu and Celal Okutan received the Contribution to Architecture Award. Prof. Dr. Celal Abdi Güzer and the İzmirdeniz Project with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and İlhan Tekeli received the Jury Special Award. The exhibition consisting of award panels will be displayed at the TSMD Architecture Centre from 18 February to 15 March 2019.
