TET Global Lojistik Board Member Cemil Can Yalçın discussed his company's products and services, with a particular focus on the chemical industry.

We would like to introduce you to our readers. Could you tell us about your education, professional career and areas of interest?

I was born in Istanbul in 1987. I completed my higher education in the Architecture Department at Maltepe University. I then began my career at TET Global. Until 2018, I worked in various departments including domestic and international operations and maintenance and repair. In 2018, in line with the company's commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction, I was appointed as Head of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (SEÇ-K). During this period, I restructured my team and implemented projects that prioritized customer satisfaction and quality service. Together with my team, I contributed to processes advancing according to operational excellence principles. As a result of my contributions, as of 2020, I was appointed as Deputy General Manager and Board Member of TET Global Lojistik. In my new role, I continue to prioritize quality and environmentally friendly service alongside my team, managing operations with the motto of on-time delivery and flawless operational processes at the forefront. As in the past, today we continue to provide flawless service to our country and stakeholders. Outside of work, I am interested in motorsport rallying. This sport, which requires traveling from one place to another faster than competitors, contributes to my professional life. Could you provide information about TET Global Lojistik's founding and its development stages?
As TET Global Lojistik, we entered the sector with bulk chemical transportation activities. Since 2002, we have added a large fleet of over 300 owned vehicles to our operations. In addition to logistics activities we conduct between all points in Turkey and Europe, we also provide intermodal transportation services. At this point, we are among the leading companies in the sector, providing not only bulk chemical transportation on land and sea but also chemical tanker and tank container washing and container storage services. Since 2013, as the Turkey agent of Bulkhaul Limited, we provide our customers with logistics opportunities between all points worldwide in container transportation. We are also members of the International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO). Our company is among the rare companies in the sector that were founded under the leadership of women managers. We are among a select few companies in Turkey that hold the global Women Owned Company certification. The leadership of women managers in our organization brings social and societal issues to the forefront. While working to carry out our activities using environmentally friendly methods, we implement social responsibility projects that benefit society. We conduct projects that provide education support to students in our country and internship opportunities abroad, believing that young people are our future. We carry out all these activities with a sense of responsibility to the environment and society.
Could you describe the products and services you provide? Especially when it comes to chemicals, what factors stand out in logistics and transportation activities?
We provide circulation of various types of liquid chemicals such as personal care, cleaning, pharmaceutical, organic chemistry, paints, food, agriculture and construction between all points in Turkey and Europe. We have a daily average liquid chemical transportation capacity of 10,000 tons. The biggest difference of liquid chemical logistics from other logistics branches is that we also take responsibility for the packaging of the products we transport. This requires being technically proficient in a broad chemical product portfolio. Understanding and optimizing the previous load, the transported load and the subsequent load, and having physical and chemical experience, is the most fundamental part of our work. We are also responsible for the quality, temperature and performance of the products from the point they are loaded until their final destination. In this context, the cleanliness of our vehicles, their periodic inspections and controls carried out before departure are of great importance. Additionally, the need for regular testing of containers and unloading equipment is among our priorities. Together with our sister company Dilmak Tanker, which holds Turkey's first SQAS certificate, we provide our customers with combined services in tanker and tank container washing at international standards.
TET Global Lojistik stands out with its environmentally friendly practices and activities within the scope of sustainability. Could you provide information about your work in this area?
In our logistics operations, our goal is to deliver the products we transport with quality, safe and environmentally friendly service. However, our responsibility to the environment is also an important factor determining how we conduct business. We carry out activities that reduce water footprint and carbon footprint through energy, environment and greenhouse gas management system applications. We organize green logistics training for our employees so they also bear the same responsibility. The green logistics service we provide at TET Global Lojistik also contributes to our customers' green transformation goals. We conduct these activities with a sense of responsibility to the environment and society. Through our environmentally friendly practices and sustainability activities, we have recently become eligible to receive the "Green Logistics Certificate" issued by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to companies that meet certain criteria. Being among the select logistics companies that hold the Green Logistics Certificate through these activities we conduct with a sense of responsibility to the environment and society is a matter of pride for us. Our first priority remains to safely deliver our customers' products using environmentally friendly methods.
Changes and transformations worldwide have a significant impact, especially for a country in a strategic position like Turkey. In this context, how does TET Global Lojistik take action in response to changing conditions?
Logistics activity, one of the most important links in the supply chain, is of great importance in meeting societal needs. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we witnessed the vital consequences of disruptions occurring in this chain. To prevent potential breaks in the supply chain, we must make the best use of new technologies. We also use the latest technology in every area, from field operations to office management, to increase the efficiency of our business processes. With our vehicles equipped with mobile communication systems, we provide our customers with the opportunity to track the entire logistics process in real-time. Digital tools increasingly occupy a place in our lives in company practices. However, with the rapid growth of the world's population, we see that the environmental impact of logistics activities is also increasing. At this point, the use of new technology is important for us. We carry out activities that reduce carbon footprint through new technology applications in water footprint reduction and energy, environment and greenhouse gas management systems.
Do you have investment plans for the near and distant future? If so, what are they? What are the key criteria in your investment planning?
As TET Global Lojistik, we aim to strengthen our presence in the global network through our investments and to raise the current service standards of the bulk chemical transportation and chemical tanker washing sectors in line with growing demands. Our business partnership with Bulkhaul Limited since 2013 provides us with logistics opportunities between all points worldwide in container transportation. In the next 5-year period, we aim to transfer the liquid transportation and tanker standards we believe are higher in Turkey to Eastern Europe and Balkan countries. In pursuit of this goal, we are also increasing our partnerships to expand our international networks. Our membership in the International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO) in the near future is also a collaboration we have implemented within this scope.
