Permata Hijau Group Oleochemicals Division Director Khairul Limsa Discusses Palm Oil Industry Vision

Could you briefly introduce yourself, your educational background and professional experience to our readers?

In which areas does Permata Hijau Group operate? What sectors and product types does Permata Hijau Group primarily serve?

Permata Hijau Group operates in the agriculture sector, specifically in the palm oil industry. Over the past 38 years, Permata Hijau Group has grown from a small palm plantation operation to become one of Indonesia's leading palm oil exporters.

Could you tell us about your domestic and international sales activities? What regions and product types does Permata Hijau Group primarily supply?

Considering global demand and our geographic location, our export volume to global markets corresponds to 90% of our production capacity. Turkey is an important and strategic market for us in oleochemical products, and we have developed long-standing relationships with our Turkish customers since 2008-2009.

Could you explain the applications of palm oil? Which industries demand palm oil?

Palm is a plant with zero waste. In addition to its use in edible oil production, the tree itself and its branches are used as fertilizer. Palm oil is used in many industries including biodiesel, food additives, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, textile auxiliaries, paints (alkyd), rubber, and PVC stabilizers. Palm oil has become the primary product used as a substitute for raw plant-based oils in personal care products (toothpaste) and industrial applications.

Logistics capabilities play a significant role in palm oil value chain supply. Could you provide information about Hijau Group's storage capacity and facilities?

Permata Hijau Group has been operating in the palm oil industry since 1985. We have storage tanks on Sumatra Island, Indonesia, to handle bulk shipments to East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

Could you provide information about Permata Hijau Group's environmental policy and sustainability approach? What can you tell us about your work related to occupational health and safety?

Permata Hijau Group is committed to its policy of being a sustainable palm oil company. In this context, we actively participate in forums such as ISPO, RSPO, ISCC, and POCG. With respect to environmental protection, we are committed to the NDPE policy. We are pleased to report that in recent years we have recorded zero incidents of deforestation and fires on our own plantations.

What criteria does Permata Hijau Group prioritize when developing investment plans?

Does Permata Hijau Group have investment plans for the coming periods, and if so, what are they? Permata Hijau Group prioritizes adding value to palm oil by developing investment plans in line with market needs, while focusing on the group's growth. We will continue to grow and increase our production activities in accordance with evolving and expanding market requirements.
