A New Era Begins in Çimko’s “Biodiversity Competition”

Focusing on the rehabilitation of mining sites with the goal of a sustainable future, Çimko is once again organizing its award-winning Biodiversity Competition for university students this year. Applications for the organization, where environmentally friendly and innovative ideas will compete, will close on November 2, 2026. Following the jury evaluation, the winning teams will be announced at the award ceremony to be held in December.

Çimko, SANKO Holding’s company in the cement and ready-mixed concrete sector, is once again bringing university students together through its award-winning idea competition organized for the purpose of reintegrating mining sites used as raw material for cement into the ecosystem. The application process for the competition, which aims to strengthen young people's environmental awareness, reveal their creative potential, and encourage them to develop sustainable ecological models, is ongoing.

Nature-Friendly and Applicable Ideas Will Be Supported

The Biodiversity Competition aims to contribute to the spread of a culture of environmental sustainability by supporting young people's nature-friendly, innovative, and field-applicable project ideas. The organization, in which projects that take into account the balance between industry and nature will be rewarded, allows young people to directly contribute to the ecological transformation process.

Students studying at the engineering, science and literature, forestry, and agriculture faculties of all universities in Türkiye will be able to participate in the competition with their original projects. Applications can be made through the application page on Çimko’s official website.

Applications End on November 2

The application process, which started in September, will end on November 2, 2026. Following the applications, the winning projects will be determined through a preliminary evaluation and jury assessment. The winners of the competition will be announced at the award ceremony to be held in December.

Cash Prizes Await the Winning Teams

Each member of the group that wins first place in the competition will receive a 50,000 TL achievement award, each member of the group that wins second place will receive a 30,000 TL achievement award, and each member of the group that wins third place will receive a 15,000 TL achievement award.

The jury panel, consisting of experts in their fields, will evaluate the projects according to the criteria of social, environmental, and regional benefit; applicability and sustainability; originality and innovation; scientific data support and calculation accuracy; and presentation and communication competence.
