Quality and Sustainable Palm Oil: Permata Hijau Group Vision
Permata Hijau Group (PHG) is a leading palm oil company in its sector, with fully integrated operations spanning the entire palm oil value chain.
PHG produces a range of quality, sustainable palm products including palm oil, lauric oil, oleochemicals, palm-based protein and specialty oils (biscuit and chocolate oils). Our products are exported to 50 countries worldwide. Our vision is "to become a leading and sustainable palm oil company by producing quality products that benefit humanity."
We implement a comprehensive quality and sustainability management system to ensure our products are produced in accordance with our quality standards, in an environmentally friendly and socially acceptable manner.
Producing Quality Products
We take product quality seriously and therefore implement a quality management system recognized by international standards. Our production units have earned various quality certificates that prove our success.Sustainable Production
Our sustainability policy is anchored in the sacred principles of No Deforestation, No Peat development and No Exploitation (NDPE). Additionally, through actions such as reducing our carbon footprint, we strive to minimize our impact on nature.Preventing Deforestation
We work to prevent deforestation in our own operations and supply chain. We use Global Forest Watch (GFW) and regular field patrols to monitor our protection areas (as designated by HCU and HCS) with a professional early warning system. To complement this monitoring effort, we train local communities surrounding our operations to prevent unauthorized entry into protected areas. Our suppliers are monitored using the same methods. Our suppliers' refineries use deterrents monitored by GFW within a 50 km radius to detect any deforestation that may occur in their operations.Fire Management and Prevention
We are committed to zero burning in our fields for planting (new or replanting) or for pest control and disease management. We have developed and implemented an integrated fire monitoring and response system operating as online surveillance with Global Forest Watch's GLAD alarm system, VIIRS and NOAA hotspot alarm systems. We also conduct field-based fire hazard alerts and fire tower monitoring.Peat Management
We do not establish new palm plantations on peat areas, regardless of depth (in accordance with Indonesia's RSPO peat definition). Our existing plantations on peat areas (approximately 250 hectares) are managed in accordance with RSPO Best Management Practices (BMP).Respect for Human Rights
We and our suppliers comply with Indonesian labor laws in all operations. Under these rules, child labor and forced labor are prohibited. Fair wages are paid. Collective bargaining and negotiation rights are respected. A workplace free from harassment, humiliation and discrimination is provided. Additionally, in our relationships with local communities surrounding our operational areas, we comply with Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) principles.Reducing Carbon Footprint
In Indonesia, we were among the first companies to establish a methane capture facility at our palm oil refinery. We established our first methane capture facility in 2008. We completed facilities at all our palm oil refineries in 2010. Three of our methane capture facilities are registered with UNFCCC as CDM projects. - Project 2130: Methane recovery in wastewater treatment. Project AIN07-W-04, North Sumatra, Indonesia. - Project 2633: Methane recovery in wastewater treatment. Project AIN08-W-03, North Sumatra, Indonesia. - Project 2421: Biogas extraction for Nubika Jaya bio-hydrogen production. Our progress in environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas is recognized by many assessment organizations. Permata Hijau Group is committed to the continuity of sustainability.
