SUDER Highlights Healthy Hydration: “Quality and Safe Water Should Be at the Center of Healthy Living”

The Packaged Water Producers Association (SUDER) is drawing attention to the healthy hydration approach that has come to the fore alongside healthy living and wellness trends. SUDER Board of Directors Chairman Yaşabey Kalebaşı states that, in addition to adequate fluid consumption, easy access to safe, quality and hygienic drinking water is also an integral part of healthy hydration. Kalebaşı emphasizes that water produced and packaged under conditions compliant with relevant legislation, while preserving its natural minerals, offers a reliable hydration option in daily life.

With the spread of the healthy living mindset, the concept of healthy hydration—based on adequate fluid consumption alongside balanced nutrition, regular physical activity and quality sleep—is increasingly coming to the agenda. This approach points to the importance of meeting daily water needs and turning water consumption into a sustainable habit.

Current research reveals that easy access to water at every moment of daily life is one of the effective factors in developing the habit of adequate water consumption.

Easy Access to Safe Drinking Water Supports Healthy Hydration

The World Health Organization's (WHO) approach to drinking water quality does not limit water safety to the moment of consumption alone. Managing risks throughout the process from source to consumer, setting health-based targets, and operating supervisory mechanisms are also among the fundamental elements of water safety.

Packaged Water Producers Association (SUDER) Board of Directors Chairman Yaşabey Kalebaşı drew attention to the importance of the supply chain in ensuring the continuity of safe drinking water, stating the following assessment:

“Amid the intensity of daily life, it is of great importance for consumers to easily access the water they need under reliable and hygienic conditions. Packaged waters go through production, filling, packaging, storage and inspection processes from the source to the consumer, offering a quality and reliable hydration option in different areas of daily life.”

Different Packaging Options Facilitate Water Consumption

Daily water consumption takes shape according to different needs—at home, at the workplace, at school, during sports, while traveling, or during outdoor activities. For this reason, it is important for drinking water to be easily accessible in different areas of daily life.

Research published on healthy hydration indicates that, in addition to access to water, factors affecting water consumption also include consumption habits, social awareness, price, ease of use and the consumption environment. Drinking water being a visible, accessible and practical option in daily life can contribute to supporting adequate fluid consumption.

Thanks to different packaging options, packaged waters make it easier for consumers to access water in various areas of use, from home to the workplace, from travel to outdoor activities.

Packaged Waters Reach Consumers After Passing Through Inspection Processes

SUDER draws attention to the importance of access to quality and reliable drinking water, one of the fundamental elements of healthy hydration. In Türkiye, the bottling, packaging, labeling and placing on the market of packaged waters are carried out within the framework of the relevant legislation of the Ministry of Health.

While different technical and quality criteria are applied according to water types, packaged waters are subject to inspection and control mechanisms throughout the processes extending from the water source to the production facilities and to being offered on the market. Microbiological controls and hygiene requirements also play an important role in ensuring quality and safety at different stages of production.

The packaged water industry aims to deliver products to consumers under appropriate conditions through practices that prioritize quality and safety in production processes.
