TUSAŞ and Boeing Partner on Thermoplastic Composite Manufacturing Technology

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and Boeing signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing thermoplastic component manufacturing capabilities in line with aviation standards in Turkey. This new agreement adds another collaboration to the ongoing partnership between Boeing and TUSAŞ. TUSAŞ General Director Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil stated, "We are excited to sign a new cooperation agreement with our strategic partner Boeing. We will continue to lead the way in new production technologies and shape the aviation sector through such important collaborations. As a company that guides Turkey's most important projects, we will realize high-quality production, make thermoplastic investments, and significantly reduce costs." Boeing Turkey General Director Ayşem Sargın said, "This agreement adds a new dimension to the long-standing partnership between Boeing and TUSAŞ, and expands the scope of our Technology Cooperation included in the National Aviation Plan, our Turkey investment program announced in 2017. Projects like this, which provide fundamental contributions to the development of Turkish aviation, are also an indicator of our confidence in Turkey, which we view as an important technology partner, and our commitment to lasting cooperation." With the technical support and experience gained from its cooperation with Boeing, TUSAŞ has made a new investment to design and manufacture thermoplastic composite components that feature high-capacity rapid production technology and will be used in next-generation aircraft. With the project called "High Efficiency Affordable Rapid Thermoplastic" (HEART), thermoplastic composite parts produced with high quality are expected to reduce costs in product cycle and process areas by 30 percent compared to conventional composites. TUSAŞ has gained thermoplastic composite manufacturing capability alongside operating a fully automated facility with high-capacity, quality and rapid production technology.
