AKİB Provides Mentoring Services to Exporters on Green Transition Akdeniz İhracatçı Birlikleri (AKİB) has qualified for technical support within the framework of the European Green Deal and Institutional Capacity Development Training Project on Preparation for the Adaptation Process, under the 2021 Technical Support Program of Çukurova Development Agency (ÇKA). AKİB General Secretary Mehmet Ali Erkan stated that AKİB, which strengthens Turkey's development with over 22,000 members operating in sectors including iron and steel, ready-made clothing and apparel, cereals, pulses and oilseeds, chemicals and chemical products, furniture, paper and forest products, aquaculture and animal products, textiles and raw materials, and fresh fruits and vegetables, will provide mentoring services for environment-friendly sustainable production and exports.
"Our priority is environment-friendly production"
Recalling that the European Union (EU) launched the European Green Deal in 2019 to address sustainable development and priority risks threatening all ecosystems, establishing a roadmap that will implement a carbon-neutral economy model from industry to agriculture, from transport to energy, and reshape trade, Mehmet Ali Erkan said: "To protect and sustain the gains we have achieved in the European Union, which ranks at the top among AKİB's main markets, our priority is environment-friendly production. In this context, the Institutional Capacity Development Training Project on European Green Deal and Preparation for the Adaptation Process, which we will launch from July, is of great importance to us."
On-site training and mentoring services
Noting that the project will be carried out in two phases, Mehmet Ali Erkan stated that initially 10 staff members at AKİB will receive approximately 50 hours of training from experts serving in ÇKA's Technical Support Program, and subsequently qualified personnel will provide on-site training and mentoring services to all members requesting such services, particularly those in Mersin, Adana, Kayseri, Hatay and Karaman provinces. Thanking the Management Board of Çukurova Development Agency and ÇKA General Secretariat staff for the support they will provide, Mehmet Ali Erkan said: "As AKİB, we aim to increase awareness regarding the European Green Deal, inform our members on green transition topics, and by directing our companies when necessary, establish a sustainable and dynamic system."
