Akkök Holding Subsidiaries Establish 'Green Strategy Group'

Green Strategy Group, established by Akkök Holding subsidiaries, will strengthen cooperation among companies on topics including sustainability, circular economy, clean energy and climate change adaptation. Akkök Holding, one of Turkey's long-established industrial conglomerates, has established a "Green Strategy Group" through its companies. The organization, comprising group members Aksa Akrilik, Akkim Kimya, Akcoat, DowAksa and Akgirişim along with YALKİM OSB, will implement the roadmap for urgent agenda items identified under the European Green Deal. Member companies will strengthen cooperation among Akkök Holding subsidiaries on sustainability, circular economy, clean energy and climate change adaptation. Akkim Kimya will lead the group during its first year.

We will turn commitments into action

Ahmet Cemal Dördüncü, Chairman of the Executive Board of Akkök Holding and Chairman of the Turkey Management Board of the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest sustainability initiative, explained as follows: "To secure our future from today in line with the sustainability ideal, we have established the Green Strategy Group with the subsidiaries of Akkök Holding. Our companies will implement the roadmap, action plans and commitments adopted in the European Green Deal. We will carry out concrete activities to further embrace the most fundamental elements of sustainable development, from carbon regulation to renewable energy, from the climate crisis to innovation and social welfare."

The agreement directly concerns Turkey

The European Green Deal announcement made by the European Commission in December 2019 plans to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and to zero them completely by 2050. The agreement directly concerns Turkey through the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism linked to international trade.
