New Airbag Plant Investment Announced

Investment in New Airbag Facility Autoliv, Inc., a leading automotive safety systems manufacturer, announced today its plan to establish a new state-of-the-art airbag cushion and fabric manufacturing facility in Vietnam to serve Asia. The investment in the new textile facility is being made in response to customer demand and aims to meet future expanded airbag production requirements for the growing Asian market. The new facility will be constructed at Amata City Ha Long Industrial Park in northern Vietnam. The facility will demonstrate Autoliv's manufacturing capabilities using Manufacturing 4.0 concepts by integrating new technologies into operations. This will be Autoliv's first investment in Vietnam. Colin Naughton, President of Autoliv Asia, said: "I am excited to open our first Autoliv facility in Vietnam. We are continuously looking for ways to expand our footprint and structurally reduce our costs, and the new facility will complement our existing footprint in Southeast Asia. With significantly increasing demand for our safety systems products in Asia, Autoliv Vietnam will play an increasingly important role in meeting our customer demand." The new production facility, which will be approximately 90,000 m2, is expected to begin production of airbag cushions for airbag module assembly plants in Asia by the end of 2025.
