Milli-Q® IQ 7000 – Your Ultrapure Water System, Designed with You in Mind
Water is the most frequently used solvent in our laboratories, independent of applications. Unfortunately, on the other hand, deviations that may arise from water in our work are typically overlooked as a priority.
With decades of experience in Laboratory Water Systems, accumulated knowledge and continuous research and development efforts, Merck has continued for years to be the most important solution partner for researchers in minimizing water-related errors that may occur in their applications.
As the inventor of ultrapure water, Merck is pleased to introduce the IQ 7000 system to researchers worldwide on the 50th anniversary of the revolutionary Milli-Q® brand, which is the equivalent of ultrapure water in literature.
Quality
In water purification systems, the removal of organic matter is as important as the removal of ion content from feed waters. Milli-Q® IQ 7000 contains a new-generation ech2o oxidation lamp operating at 172 nm wavelength for photooxidation of organics, and is mercury-free. Additionally, the device has an integrated TOC monitor for measuring "Total Oxidizable Carbon (TOC)" content. This monitor can perform TOC measurements in the range of 0.5–999.9 ppb. In ultrapure water, maintaining and monitoring ionic and organic contaminants at minimum levels is crucial. For this reason, the new Milli-Q® IQ 7000 is equipped with much more sensitive, temperature-responsive inline resistance cells to ensure the quality of the produced ultrapure water. In development and validation studies from our Global Research and Development division, the ionic separation capacity of Milli-Q® IQ 7000 is well below the resistance detection limit. Additionally, the integrated TOC monitor within the system has been designed according to the most frequently requested standards such as USP (543) and (645).Point of Use
With the Q-POD unit, Milli-Q® IQ 7000 can provide a variety of ultrapure water production at different quality levels through replaceable final filter units at the point of last withdrawal, depending on different application needs. Using the final filters in Q-PODs, you can obtain ultrapure water at the quality suitable for your applications. These final filters are as follows: • Millipak® 0.22 μm pore size filter for bacteria and particle-free water. • Biopak® Final filter for pyrogen-free, protease-free and nuclease-free (DNA and RNA) water. • VOC-Pak® Final filter for volatile organic compound analysis water. • LC-Pak® Final filter for ultra-trace organic matter analysis water. • EDS-Pak® Final filter for endocrine disruptor analysis water. Up to 4 Q-POD distribution units can be connected to a single Milli-Q® IQ 7000 system. In this way, researchers working in different application areas from the same system can obtain their ultrapure water needs at the quality required by their applications. Water produced with Q-POD can be obtained up to 5 meters away from the installed main unit. Considering this distance, in addition to more flexible work areas in laboratory design, it provides opportunities for system installations in different alternatives (benchtop, under-bench, wall-mounted, etc.) in space-constrained locations. With the Q-POD that can be installed at 5 meters distance, control and system monitoring will still be at your fingertips. With the help of the 5-inch touchscreen on the Q-POD, you can control all processes within the system while also creating the commands you want from this interface.Water Dispensing
With Milli-Q® IQ 7000, you can automatically prepare your water needs from 20 ml to 100 L at the dispenser using programmable volumetric dispensing, without waiting. In addition to this automatic volumetric dispensing feature, the auxiliary dispensing mode feature also makes Milli-Q® IQ 7000 unique. Here, the automatic dispensing mode initiated for the desired amount switches to drop mode before reaching the desired amount and eliminates the need for sterile pipette use, saving time and money. With each ultrapure water withdrawal from Milli-Q® IQ 7000, information related to this withdrawal is archived in the system memory. This archiving does not contain only information such as water quality and quantity. In addition to these, system alerts, modification settings, consumable change information and other service activities are also included. This information is compatible with any LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). You can retrieve this information on a memory card in electronic format and keep your information digitally without the need for paper.Maintenance
Milli-Q® IQ 7000 uses the 5-inch screen on the Q-POD to display all consumable change steps to users in an explanatory manner. Here, alerts related to consumable change times and risks that may occur in water quality if not changed are displayed as information on the screen. With the mixed resin technology used in new-generation IPAK Quanta and IPAK Meta cartridges, we have cartridges in much smaller sizes compared to previous cartridges. With these small cartridges and the new easy-lock mechanism cartridge slots that come with them, changing these consumables can be easily done by anyone working in the laboratory. The mercury-free UV lamp used here ensures that the disposal procedure for the old lamp after UV lamp replacement will not be a problem for users. Combining all of these, Milli-Q® IQ 7000 has been designed and provided for your use to meet your ultrapure water needs in your laboratory more effectively, technologically and easily than ever before.Bünyamin Kayacı
