Portable Mercury Analyzer

The EMP-3 is a portable mercury analyzer capable of lightweight, compact, and highly reliable continuous measurement. A portable atomic absorption spectrometer is built into the device, enabling straightforward and rapid measurement of elemental mercury vapor in the working environment across all types of settings. With its support for new mercury measurement methods across numerous applications, the EMP-3 is positioned to replace conventional approaches. Sample gas is introduced directly into the absorption cell, and mercury concentration is measured using atomic absorption spectroscopy at a wavelength of 253.7 nm. The measurement range is 0–2,000 μg/Nm³, with a response time of just 1 second. Measured data is recorded to an SD card in CSV format for straightforward analysis. All device operation is performed via touchscreen on a 4.3-inch LCD panel mounted on the unit. Installation of GPS functionality eliminates the need to manually record measurement locations. Additionally, features such as waterproof construction across many work environments and a twice-wider measurement range enable more reliable operation. The EMP-3 includes a function that corrects interactions occurring in the background. Even in locations suspected of containing gases that exhibit positive interference (for example, hydrocarbon gas), the device instantly detects and measures mercury alone. With optional features, the device can be configured to perform mercury vapor measurements at high concentrations up to 20,000 μg/Nm³ and water analyses. No expensive analytical equipment is required, and a single unit enables different measurements.
