BASF Acquires DOMO Chemicals' Stake in Alsachimie Joint Venture

BASF has acquired DOMO Chemicals' 49% stake in the Alsachimie joint venture, becoming the sole owner of the facility located in Chalampé, France, which produces key polyamide (PA) 6.6 precursors including KA-oil, adipic acid and hexamethylene diamine adipate (AH salt). The parties agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.

With full ownership of Alsachimie, BASF is strengthening its operational presence at the Chalampé facility while aiming to increase supply security and efficiency in the PA 6.6 value chain. This strategic move supports BASF's efforts to optimize raw material integration and reinforce its leadership in PA 6.6 production in Europe.

For DOMO Chemicals, this divestment aligns with its strategy of focusing on developing specialty polyamide solutions for the automotive, consumer products, industrial and electrical-electronics sectors.

The transaction marks the latest phase of BASF's investments to increase PA 6.6 production capacity at the Chalampé facility. Previously, a new hexamethylene diamine (HMD) production plant was commissioned at the site, and PA 6.6 polymerization capacity was expanded at the nearby facility in Freiburg, Germany.
