BASF and Sport Group Enter Global Partnership

BASF and Sport Group launch global partnership in sports and outdoor flooring systems. BASF introduces Infinergy®, the first expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU) for flooring systems. The high-performance material features an excellent environmental profile and is Oeko-Tex® certified. The material's functionality, durability and environmental compatibility have been comprehensively tested. These properties make Infinergy® a forward-looking alternative to previously used materials. Additionally, the product enables waste-free production cycles as it can be fully recovered and reused without harmful residues. In the outdoor sector, the material can be used as an elastic layer for leakproof, sustainable and environmentally friendly sports facilities, running tracks and playgrounds. Following the agreement with Sport Group, BASF has partnered with a distributor to distribute and install the new system globally. Global Business Incubation Infinergy Director Jens Dierssen stated, "The strategic partnership between Sport Group and BASF will enrich sports facility construction with a new and sustainable solution." Sport Group CEO Frank Dittrich added, "BASF and Sport Group continuously pursue sustainability targets. For this reason, Infinergy® fits perfectly into our product portfolio." Sport Group supplies artificial grass sports fields, athletic tracks, playgrounds and landscape products in more than 70 countries. Thanks to its cushioning properties in particular, Infinergy® is ideal for fall-protective flooring that protects children from injuries in the event of falls on playgrounds. As a strategic distributor, Sport Group will distribute and install fall-protective flooring with Infinergy® through its subsidiaries Polytan GmbH and Melos GmbH.
