PPG INNOVEL Coatings Selected for China's Iconic JDB Herbal Tea
PPG announced that China's JDB Group has selected PPG INNOVEL® bisphenol-free (BPA-free) coatings for the beverage cans of its iconic Jia Duo Bao (JDB) herbal tea drink.
The two companies, JDB Group's beverage can and end manufacturers, worked closely to select and test a coating solution that meets China and international beverage packaging standards for food-contact materials, enabling the brand to expand beyond the Chinese market. Rigorous testing conducted by the State Test Laboratory for Food-Contact Materials in Changzhou, China, validated that PPG Innovel Interior and Easy-Open-End coatings comply with regulations in China, the European Union, Japan and the United States.

PPG Innovel interior spray coatings and Easy-Open-End coating solutions, in addition to being BPA-free, offer flavor-neutral characteristics, effective sterilization resistance, excellent flexibility and good application windows for aluminum beverage cans. The coatings cover various beverage weight specifications and work efficiently on tinplate can manufacturers' production lines.

JDB herbal tea, with a formula listed on China's first national Intangible Cultural Heritage list, is regarded as a national treasure in China. Since 2003, PPG has assisted JDB Group in providing various metal packaging coating solutions. JDB Group has since created various beverages along with its herbal tea.
