Dow Launches Bio-Based Propylene Glycol Products
Dow (NYSE: DOW) has introduced a new propylene glycol (PG) product line featuring alternative—lower-carbon, bio-based and circular—feedstocks in Europe.
Using these products, customers can deliver end-use solutions with third-party verified sustainability benefits to a broad spectrum of industries including pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food, enabled by the mass balance approach.
ISCC PLUS certified mass balance methodology is based on verifiable record-keeping and tracks the flow of sustainable feedstocks used to produce PG through a complex supply chain.
Three new sustainable propylene glycol product lines employing innovative technologies—Propylene Glycol RDC featuring Decarbia™, Propylene Glycol REN featuring Ecolibrium™ and Propylene Glycol CIR featuring Renuva™—will be available for sale in Europe and will carry ISCC PLUS certification. PG RDC, PG REN and PG CIR are suitable for various applications in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, textiles and food.
Andrew Jones, Global Business Director, Dow CAV & POPG, stated: "We recognize the growing demand for the use of renewable materials to reduce carbon and enable circularity. By applying our low-carbon, bio-based and advanced recycling technologies, we are making this a reality for PG. Our customers will benefit from the same high-quality performance with a more sustainable material."
