Three Technologies from Dow Win 2017 Business Intelligence Group Sustainability Awards

At the Business Intelligence Group 2017 Sustainability Awards program, DowDuPont Materials Science received recognition for three new initiatives and sustainable innovations. The Sustainability Awards are presented to companies that recognize sustainability as an integral part of their business practices. Three Dow technologies were named Sustainability Products of the Year. A. N. Sreeram, Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Technology Officer at Dow, stated: "Developing products that deliver performance that exceeds customer needs is why we innovate. We find it even more rewarding when our innovations are recognized, especially for delivering effective and sustainable solutions," and concluded his remarks by saying: "Dow's innovation engine plays a key role in accelerating the world's transition to a more sustainable planet through market-driven, sustainable solutions to the world's most pressing challenges, and continues to deliver innovations with unique capabilities globally." One of the award-winning technologies, VORAGUARD high-elasticity flame-retardant polyurethane, provides ultra-low-emission halogen-free, flame-prevention polyurethane foam for bedding systems and furniture. Developed to eliminate halogenated flame retardants from polyurethane foam formulations while still meeting stringent fire safety standards. Additionally, VORAGUARD-based foams have very low VOCs and odor, thereby improving indoor air quality for consumers. The other award-winning technologies include; DOW FILMTEC™ FORTILIFE™ reverse osmosis (RO) elements, which convert wastewater into pure water and pure salts and enable reuse at approximately 60% lower cost compared to thermal treatment. ROPAQUE™ NT-2900 Opaque Polymer for BLUE 4EST™ thermal paper replaces conventional thermal paper, eliminating the use of chemical developers and concerning chemicals in production.
