Nouryon Completes Organic Peroxide Growth Project in India

Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals) has completed a EUR 4 million expansion project in Mahad, India, aimed at increasing organic peroxide production capacity by 80 percent. The capacity increase will support growing demand for organic peroxides among customers in India and the Middle East. Organic peroxides are used in the production of polymer-based products such as athletic shoe soles, wind turbine blades and PVC pipes. Mahad regional manager commented: "With this expansion, we will serve our customers better and further strengthen our position in the market, particularly in the PVC, acrylics and thermoset resins segments. This also reflects our commitment to the region and our efforts to strengthen local manufacturing." Landfors, Head of Polymer Chemistry at Nouryon, added: "This project is the latest in a series of investments we are making globally to better meet our customers' needs and grow together with them. In 2018, we invested more than EUR 100 million to increase organic peroxide capacity and work on sustainable product and process innovations." The Mahad project also includes a new wastewater treatment facility that will enhance the region's sustainability profile.
