Barilla published its 2018 business and sustainability results. Continuing its operations under the mission "Good for You, Good for the Planet," Barilla achieved its first zero CO2 emission target with Wasa. The company, which obtained successful economic results alongside its sustainability commitment, continued to grow on a global scale. The company achieved growth of over 3 percent worldwide compared to the previous year, with 2018 revenues reaching EUR 3.48 million. Thus, having allocated 6.8 percent of last year's revenues to investment, Barilla also succeeded in becoming the first Italian company to be included under the Farm Animal Welfare Operating Assessment (BBFAW). Barilla made a public commitment not to test its raw materials and products directly or indirectly on animals, and sources all animal-derived raw materials in compliance with Animal Welfare Rules. The Group was included in the Farm Animal Welfare Operating Assessment (BBFAW) in 2019 due to its work in this area and its sensitive approach.

Barilla Group Vice Chairman of the Board Paolo Barilla:

"We want to continue improving ourselves in every matter centered on our products. Taste, nutrition and environmental sustainability have now become necessary for a better future. Our brands must be consistent with our 'Good for You, Good for the Planet' mission. We will continue to work in cooperation with institutions, organizations and research centers, and seek more effective solutions on our sustainability path." he expressed his views. Barilla is a pioneer in the dissemination and implementation of more environmentally respectful and innovative agricultural practices throughout its supply chain that benefit farmers and society. In Italy, the company works with more than 5,000 farms through supply chain development contracts. Barilla Group provides fair pricing to farmers and premiums that reward quality. Under its sustainable durum wheat project, the company increased the quantity of products supplied by 230 thousand tons in 2018. The 10 Golden Rules developed under the project resulted in an average 12 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and an 11 percent decrease in farmer costs.
