EİB Announces May Export Figures

EİB Releases May Export Figures Aegean Exporters Associations (EİB) increased May exports by 14 percent from USD 1.377 billion to USD 1.565 billion. EİB's January-May 2023 exports reached USD 7.609 billion with a 1 percent increase, while exports over the last 12 months rose 3 percent from USD 17.760 billion to USD 18.314 billion. Turkey's May exports reached USD 21.7 billion with a 14 percent increase. Reminding that May 2022 saw four working days lost due to Ramadan Bayram, Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi noted that the four-day difference affected the export increase in May 2023.

EİB's agricultural exports heading toward USD 8 billion

Chairman Eskinazi reported that industrial products exports from Aegean Exporters Associations increased 6 percent from USD 782 million to USD 831 million, stating: "Agricultural sector exports rose 26 percent from USD 503 million to USD 634 million. Our agricultural sectors have put smiles on our faces for five months in 2023, consistently performing above average export growth rates. Agricultural sectors' share of EİB's total exports increased from 33 percent to 40 percent. If our agricultural sectors maintain these charts, they will raise their exports that reached USD 7.247 billion over the last 12 months to USD 8 billion by the end of 2023." Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association increased May 2022 exports of USD 172 million to USD 207 million with a 20 percent increase in May 2023, maintaining its leading position. Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, which has been the monthly export growth champion in 2023, increased May 2022 exports of USD 14 million to USD 78.4 million in May 2023 with a 461 percent increase, continuing its record-breaking performance and earning foreign currency for Turkey. Aegean Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Association increased exports 17 percent from USD 120 million to USD 140 million compared to May 2022, solidifying its second-place position under the EİB umbrella. Aegean Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters Association achieved USD 119 million in export performance in May 2023, compared to USD 94 million in May 2022, capturing a 27 percent export growth rate.

EYMSİB progressing step by step toward USD 1.4 billion target

Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association, which entered 2023 with a USD 1.4 billion export target, is progressing step by step toward its goal. EYMSİB increased May exports 25 percent from USD 72 million to USD 90 million. EYMSİB's five-month exports reached USD 502 million. Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters Association, which exceeded the USD 1 billion threshold in 2022 and delivered successful export performance in January-April 2023, experienced a 31 percent export decline in May due to congestion in white poppy seed exports to India, declining from USD 123 million to USD 84 million. EHBYİB was the only association to see a decline in May exports. Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, which brings together furniture, paper and forest products sectors, recorded USD 75.6 million in exports in May with an 11 percent export growth rate. Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association, which dominates exports of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs where we are world leaders, increased May 2022 exports of USD 54 million to USD 71 million in May 2023 with a 29 percent increase. Aegean Textiles and Raw Materials Exporters Association, the third sector with the highest export growth at 68 percent in May following EZZİB and ETİB, achieved USD 37 million in foreign currency for Turkey in May 2023, compared to USD 22 million in May 2022. Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association achieved a 29 percent export growth rate, increasing exports from USD 9.7 million to USD 12.5 million.
