Construction Materials Exports Surpass $2 Billion in November
The Turkish Construction Materials Manufacturers Association (Türkiye İMSAD) released the results of the Construction Materials Industry Foreign Trade Index for November 2020.
According to the results, following October, exports in November also exceeded USD 2 billion. The average export unit price for construction materials stood at USD 0.41/kg in November 2019, and in November 2020, after weak performance in preceding months, it rose to USD 0.41/kg again. Thus, November reached the highest monthly average export unit price of the year.
Construction materials imports in November rose 8.7% compared to November of the previous year
Construction materials industry imports by volume in November increased 8.7% compared to November of the previous year and reached 273,000 tonnes. November imports by volume represented the highest monthly imports of the year. Construction materials industry imports by value in November totaled USD 693 million and constituted the second-highest monthly imports of 2020. The average import unit price for construction materials in November rose to USD 2.54/kg. Average prices, which had declined in October, increased again in November. In November 2019, the monthly average import unit price had been at USD 2.41/kg. In November 2020, construction materials export performance varied by subsector. In November, only 2 of 8 product subgroups saw export unit prices increase compared to November 2019. In 6 product groups, export unit prices fell. In November, the average export unit price for mineral, stone and earth products rose 5%. The average export unit price for electrical machinery and equipment increased 1%. The average export unit price for chemical-based products fell 23%. The average export unit price for wood and wooden products declined 13.4%. In November 2020, exports by volume in 6 of the 8 product subgroups exceeded November 2019 levels, while 2 products fell below the previous year. In November, the highest export volume growth occurred in wood and wooden products at 48.6%, chemical products at 42.3%, and iron and steel products at 27.9%. The subsector with the most significant export volume decline in November was prefabricated structures at 6.5%. In November 2020, exports by value increased in 7 of the 8 product subgroups. In November 2020, the highest export value growth by far was in wood and wooden products at 28.3%. The only subsector where exports declined in value was prefabricated structures.Source: AA
