İşbir Yatak Achieves 20% Growth in Revenue
Global mattress production and consumption have continued to increase over the past 10 years. According to available data, approximately 230 million mattresses are produced worldwide each year.
The data shows that the value of produced mattresses has increased by 58% since 2009. Between 2020-2023, these rates are expected to increase by approximately 3%.
At the same time, figures show that foam mattresses hold a significant share in the global market. Experts in the field point out that the foam mattress market has reached 45% when looking at the sector's development over the years. In this context, İşbir Yatak, which increased its production capacity by 50%, achieved 20% growth in revenue. The target for the last quarter of the year is to increase this rate to 50%.
While latex mattresses have lost market share in most countries over the years, foam mattress usage dominates the market in Germany, France, Brazil and Italy. In Russia, which is an important market for Turkey, foam mattress usage is also increasing compared to spring and latex mattress usage.
WE INCREASED OUR DAILY PRODUCTION CAPACITY BY 50%
İşbir Holding CEO Metin Gültepe, emphasizing that the increase in foam mattress usage is a very important development, said: "In Central European countries, foam mattress production averages around 75%. In Western European countries where pocket spring mattress usage is intensive, we observe that foam-layered mattress usage is increasing, particularly in parallel with the development of e-commerce. Looking at Turkey, foam mattresses make up 15% of total mattress production. This rate continues to show steady growth in our country, especially in recent years. In addition to the domestic market, we are working on initiatives and innovations to increase the production of viscoelastic foam mattresses, which are becoming a global trend. In this context, we increased our daily production capacity by 50%, especially during the pandemic period. We achieved 20% growth in revenue, and our target is to reach 50% by year-end. Of course, we cannot think of this only in terms of the Turkish market. Germany, France, Italy and Russia, which are important destinations, are among our target countries for exports. In addition to this, we have made new machinery park investments in terms of innovation. Thanks to the ViscoStar Aqua Fixing Technology, which is part of this investment, we conduct production that is respectful to the environment and improve the quality and comfort of our ViscoStar group mattresses that have viscoelastic foam material. At the same time, we are going through a period when hygiene is being taken very seriously. In this context, we have another technology we have developed. We have implemented the 'Safe Sleep Tunnel (SST) Hygiene Tunnel' technology, which we developed in our R&D centers in the near term and is a first in the Turkish as well as global mattress sector. Thanks to this tunnel technology, our mattresses become more hygienic with UVC rays and are packaged completely without being touched. We have obtained successful results from independent laboratories regarding the efficiency of this technology."E-COMMERCE IN THE MATTRESS SECTOR IS INCREASING FOAM MATTRESS DEMAND
Recent research shows that the "one size fits all" approach in the mattress sector is beginning to decline. Consumers are now beginning to demand a wider range of products when buying mattresses. Users who look for durability, quality and body compatibility of the mattress beyond price also show increasing interest in the product's certification and ecological sustainability. Gültepe said: "As research becomes more widespread, both its support for the immune system and its positive effects on physiological and mental activities increase the importance of sleep in our lives every day. In recent years, there is increasing interest in quality mattresses, sleep products and mattress accessories for healthy sleep. The increase in the search for and awareness of quality sleep highlights manufacturers that have the necessary certifications. Similarly, e-commerce, which is developing in the mattress sector, is changing the large global mattress market in this regard. Recently, consumers are demanding the ability to purchase large items like mattresses online and have them delivered to their addresses. This directly affects demand for foam mattresses."Advertisement
