Istanbul Companies' Industrial Exports Exceeded USD 8 Billion
Türkiye İhracatçılar Meclisi (TİM) data shows that Istanbul-based companies' exports reached USD 9.425 billion in the previous month, up 4.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with USD 1.801 billion, Bursa with USD 1.509 billion, Izmir with USD 1.348 billion and Ankara with USD 1.087 billion.
In March, the industrial sector recorded USD 17.230 billion in exports, of which Istanbul-based companies generated USD 8.129 billion.
During this period, Istanbul's share in industrial sector exports was 47.1 percent. The city's industrial exports increased 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
Last month, Istanbul exported USD 1.671 billion in chemicals and chemical products, USD 1.428 billion in apparel and confectionery, USD 773.916 million in automotive industry, USD 757.983 million in electrical and electronics, USD 670.346 million in steel sector, USD 648.394 million in jewelry sector, USD 639.277 million in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, USD 394.214 million in textiles and raw materials, USD 339.104 million in machinery and parts, USD 260.421 million in air conditioning industry, USD 233.713 million in cement, glass, ceramics and clay products, USD 139.784 million in leather and leather products, USD 94.543 million in ships, yachts and services, USD 65.847 million in carpet sector, and USD 11.066 million in other industrial products.
14 provinces exceeded USD 100 million in industrial exports
Following Istanbul, the province with the highest industrial exports in March was Kocaeli with USD 1.738 billion. Bursa ranked third with USD 1.361 billion, while Izmir achieved USD 895.264 million, Ankara USD 793.262 million, Gaziantep USD 568.097 million, Sakarya USD 478.526 million, Manisa USD 401.346 million, Denizli USD 363.014 million, and Konya USD 243.561 million in industrial exports. During the period in question, Kayseri exported USD 202.611 million, Tekirdağ USD 161.117 million, Hatay USD 150.884 million and Çorum USD 100.330 million in industrial products.Highest exports to Germany
Last month, exports from Istanbul went to 213 destinations worldwide. Looking at the countries where Istanbul exported the most, Germany and Italy led the way. The city's largest exports were USD 754.835 million to Germany. Germany was followed by Italy with USD 493.111 million, the USA with USD 468.329 million, the Russian Federation with USD 467.716 million and the United Kingdom with USD 412.108 million.
