Record Exports from Industrial Sector The industrial sector recorded all-time high January exports of USD 13.674 billion. According to information compiled by an AA correspondent from Turkish Exporters Council (TİM) data, Turkey's exports rose to USD 19.375 billion in January, up 10.4 percent compared to the same period last year, marking a record start to 2023 despite continued difficulties in the global economy. As global industrial production continued to fluctuate during the period, sustained demand for Turkish industrial products allowed the industrial sector to achieve all-time high January exports of USD 13.674 billion. January industrial exports, up 4.5 percent year-on-year, accounted for 70.6 percent of Turkey's total exports.

10 sectors set export records

Textiles and raw materials at USD 818.8 million, leather and leather products at USD 178.8 million, chemicals and chemical products at USD 2.3 billion, apparel and clothing at USD 1.6 billion, automotive industry at USD 2.7 billion, electrical and electronics at USD 1.2 billion, machinery and components at USD 845.2 million, cement, glass, ceramics and earthenware products at USD 361.4 million, jewelry sector at USD 419.9 million, and air-conditioning industry at USD 525.5 million all achieved all-time high January exports. In January, textiles and raw materials grew 0.5 percent, leather and leather products 34.7 percent, chemicals and chemical products 7.7 percent, apparel and clothing 2.7 percent, automotive industry 21.9 percent, automotive industry 21.9 percent, electrical and electronics 20.5 percent, machinery and components 18.8 percent, cement, glass, ceramics and earthenware products 2.2 percent, and air-conditioning industry 14.7 percent export growth.
Germany and Russian Federation lead among record-breaking sectors
Among the industrial sectors setting records, Germany and the Russian Federation stood out as target markets. To the Russian Federation, exports included leather and leather products at USD 23.5 million, chemicals and chemical products at USD 154.8 million, and machinery and components at USD 94.9 million. To Germany, exports comprised apparel and clothing at USD 304.035 million, automotive industry at USD 412.5 million, and air-conditioning industry at USD 60 million. To Italy, textiles and raw materials totaled USD 78.2 million in exports, to the United Kingdom, electrical and electronics sector USD 112.9 million, to the United States, cement, glass, ceramics and earthenware products USD 49.9 million, and to Switzerland, jewelry sector USD 89 million.
