14th İMMİB Industrial Design Competition Awards Presented
İKMİB, İDDMİB and TET, in partnership, held the awards ceremony for the "İMMİB Industrial Design Competitions," which took place for the 14th time this year, on 16 November 2018 Friday at Haliç Convention Center as part of "Turkey Design Week." The awards ceremony was attended by İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister, İDDMİB Board Chairman Tahsin
Öztiryaki, TET Board Vice Chairman Mehmet Kavaklıoğlu, İMMİB General Secretary Armağan Vurdu, Industrial Designers Professional Association Chairman Sertaç Ersayın as well as applicants and business representatives.
"Designs Will Bring New Brands to Our Country"
İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister, speaking at the awards ceremony, pointed out that award-winning designs to date have been turned into products by various renowned companies and sold in tens of thousands, and emphasized the importance of innovation and branding. Pelister stated the following in his remarks: "Your designs, which are the product of invaluable ideas, become a source of innovation for our country's economy. The most important stage in becoming a brand is design. Your valuable designs will both bring new brands to our country and at the same time add new value to our existing brands."TRY 220,000 in Prizes Awarded in 4 Categories
383 project submissions were made to the İMMİB Industrial Design Competitions this year. In 4 main categories—"Metal Kitchen Utensils," "Plastic-Made Cleaning Products," "Health Products for Working-Age Population" and "Concept 2018: Metal-Made Outdoor Cooking Products and Accessories"—competing in student and professional subcategories, first-place winners in the professional category won TRY 15,000, second-place winners TRY 10,000, third-place winners TRY 7,000 and honorable mentions TRY 4,000. In the student category, first-place winners received TRY 7,000, second-place winners TRY 5,000, third-place winners TRY 3,000 and honorable mentions TRY 2,000. A total of TRY 220,000 in prize money was awarded.Overseas Training Scholarship Award
In the İMMİB Industrial Design Competitions, first held in 2005, a total of 38 designers have benefited from overseas training scholarships to date. This year, 4 designers who placed will benefit from the overseas training scholarship opportunity provided by the Ministry of Commerce.Advertisement
